This year I committed to Bible reading. At first I wasn't willing to read. I didnโt want to set time aside to just sit down and read. My mom told me it was about four chapters a day and that I had to do it so we could have a good spiritual habit in our family. So i decided to join even though I was unwilling. When i first started reading i realized that there was so much I didn't know until then, like the bronze snake and the blessings instead of curses. Still I hated stopping what I enjoyed to read the Bible. Although I disliked reading the Bible I kept on pushing through with the encouragement of my mom and dad.
Then came the time when me and my family went to Korea. When we were there I was so caught up in meeting my grandparents and playing that I forgot to read the Bible. Then my mom realized that we forgot to read the Bible. Because of that on Sunday I read a whole book of the Bible to catch up! This was really annoying because I was looking forward to taking time off from the Bible and having fun with my grandparents instead! This is why for the rest of the trip I quit reading and just played until we came back home. Unfortunately this caused me to read a ton of the Bible to catch up!
When I finally caught up to the daily schedule, I felt like this was an adventure. There were ups and downs when I read the bible. For example now since I read the Bible I know more about God and being a Christian. But there were also downs like not wanting to read many chapters a day. Through these tough times I felt as if God was helping me push through. It was also the same when I read. When I read I had a feeling that God was with me and that he was pleased by me reading the Bible. This was what pushed me to read the Bible.
I also learned interesting facts about the Bible. When I read the Bible I saw that the number seven was used a lot, so I searched it up and found out that seven meant complete. This was because God made the world in seven days and that he said that the world was good and complete. In revelation John's dream had the number seven said multiple times. In fact there were 55 in the book, for example the seven trumpets, bowls and scrolls. This was really interesting because in the Bible the number seven was mentioned over 700 times. I now realized that seven was a really powerful and known number in the Bible so I really wanted to focus on it and understand it.
This year I committed to reading the Bible and I am grateful that I was able to complete. I enjoyed it and want to read it next year too. I hope next year more people will set some time away from their things and read the Bible so that God can bless them.
God bless you!
